Heavy Metal Chelation

Chelation therapy helps remove toxic metals that contribute to cellular age degeneration and chronic disease.  Heavy metals contribute to fatigue, hormonal dysfunction, cognitive issues and cardiovascular disease just to name a few.

Chelation therapy is the removal of heavy metals that have been stored in the tissues for long periods of time.  Heavy metals can have harmful effects on our cellular metabolism in a variety of ways.  When a urine provocation test comes back positive for elevated heavy metals or blood testing shows inflammatory reactions to heavy metals, chelation therapy is often prescribed as part of the treatment plan to normalize metabolism.

For patients visiting the clinic or patients that are local, we use intravenous (IV) chelation as a means for moving significant amounts of heavy metals out of the tissues quickly. When patients return home, we use oral forms of chelation so that we can continue to pull heavy metals out of the tissues between visits to the clinic.

It is important to note that heavy metal chelation can be a long-term process. Periodic re-testing of heavy metal levels using urine provocation tests will give us an idea of how far we’ve come and how far we still need to go with chelation therapy.
